존경하는 프라이스 하원 의원님께,
해외정책 위원회에 소의원이신 프라이스 의원님께서는 해외정책에 있어 평화와 합리를 위해 소신껏 활동하고 계신다고 생각합니다.
제가 프라이스 의원님께 이렇게 편지를 보내는 이유는 현재 한국에 설치 중에 있는 사드 배치와 관련하여 심히 우려되는 바가 있기 때문입니다.
사드 배치는 남북한을 포함한 한반도 전 지역에 위험과 긴장을 고조시키고 있습니다. 또한 저는 남한과 북한이 사드문제와 관련하여 중국과 미국 사이의 체스판 위에 말이되어 움직이고 있음에 공포를 느낍니다.
저는 오랜 시간동안 원불교 노스캐롤라이나 교당에서 공부하고 있습니다. 원불교 교도의 한 사람으로서 사드 배치 반대 운동을 하고 있는 원불교 교무님·교도님을 포함한 많은 사람들을 대하는 한국 경찰의 태도를 바라볼 때 이는 우리 미국인들을 포함한 모든 사람들에게 악영향을 미칠 것이라 여깁니다. 또한 사드 미사일이 원불교 성지에 세워진다는 것 역시 많은 문제의 소지가 되고 있습니다.
이에 저는 노스캐롤라이나 주와 미국을 대표하여 일하고 계시는 프라이스 의원님께서 이번 사드 배치 건에 관련하여 힘써 주시어, 이 세상에 사드 미사일 등의 전쟁 무기가 없는 더 좋은 세상을 만드는 일에 함께 노력해 주시기를 간곡히 부탁드립니다.

Dear Congressman Price,
As you are a member of the appropriations subcommittee responsible for foreignoperations as well as a recognized voice for peace and reason in foreign policy issues, I am writing to you to express my concern about the U.S. deployment of the THAAD missile system in South Korea. I feel that this deployment only ramps up the tension and increases the danger for South Korea - indeed for the whole region - and I fear that both North and South Korea are becoming pawns in a chess game between China and the U.S.
Additionally, as a long-standing member of the Won Buddhist community in Chapel Hill, NC, I am appalled at the treatment of the protesters, who included many Won Buddhist clergy and community, by the South Korean police; it reflects badly on us all. The missiles abut a sacred buddhist site which is considered holy to many buddhist practitioners.
I so appreciate your service to North Carolina and the United States in your efforts to make this world a better place. Thank you for your consideration in this matter.
